CS for All. (Computer Science for All)
Stone Academy has been named to Cohort 3 of the CPS Computer Science for All Schools. This innovative program will develop computer science skills in elementary schools. I will focus attention on developing the computational thinking for our students. We will be partnering with Code.org, Google, CME and other technology leaders.
Big ideas for this quarter include: can use technology to share ideas, work with others and participate in a community. I can make things to show what I know, influence and inform others, evoke feelings, and concerns.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten students will continue to work on hand-eye coordination and using a mouse to navigate around the computer desktop. They will work on using a bookmark bar to navigate to websites. They will learn that they can use technology to communicate ideas. We will work on expressing our feelings and ideas using technology. We will create a book using various programs.
Primary Grades 1 - 2
Students in grades 1 - 2 will be writing a book this quarter. They will be using various programs to create text and illustrations. They will create a blog in the program Seesaw. Students at this grade range will have regular typing practice this quarter.
Intermediate Grades 3 - 5
Students in grades 3-5 will focus on using the right technology and program for the job. They will investigate how different types of projects have different moods and use different programs and technology to create an appropriate outcome. We will look at letters, essays, reports, posters and creative pieces--even texting. Students at this grade range will have regular typing practice this quarter.
Middle School Grades 6 - 8
Students will be creating websites. They will investigate what it means that websites are hosted, the meaning .com, .net, .edu, .gov, etc. They will examine the structure of websites and how to incorporate different media into a website. The final project will be a multi-page website.
